CITRIX XENSERVER AND XEN HYPERVISOR

WHAT IS CITRIX XENSERVER?

A hypervisor platform, Citrix XenServer allows virtualized server infrastructure to be developed and managed. Developed by Citrix Systems, it is designed over the hypervisor of the Xen Virtual Machine. XenServer provides services for the server virtualization, and monitoring. It is available on a 64-bit hypervisor platform and can be run throughout the x86 processor series.

Citrix XenServer is one of Citrix Systemsvirtualization technologies that consolidates the computing power of a physical server into multiple virtual machines, all emulating as a single server. Citrix XenServer is designed to meet traditional server operating specifications and supports most server operating systems on guest server devices, such as Linux and Windows Server.

WHAT DOES A CITRIX XENSERVER DO?

Citrix XenServer, through its virtual machine management feature, deals with allocation and distribution of physical server computing resources across virtual machines and looks over their performance and cybersecurity courses.

EDITIONS OF A XENSERVER

There are three versions of XenServer available :

  • Free
  • Standard
  • Enterprise

They are all downloaded from the same ISO, and they are all open source equally.

WHY YOU SHOULD PURCHASE CITRIX XENSERVER

When you Buy Citrix XenServer you get to enjoy the cybersecurity training :

  • World-wide support for Citrix Premier 24/7.
  • Material is packaged commercially and approved.
  • Simplified XenCenter packaging and updating.
  • Security of license and indemnification.
  • KnowledgeBase for Citrix.
  • A My Account portal.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF CITRIX XENSERVER?

  • Within a matter of minutes, it provides the latest servers.
  • Enhances IT flexibility
  • Maintains high levels of performance.
  • Improves agility by fast delivery of workload.
  • Simple development of virtualization.
  • Decreases downtime

WHAT IS XEN HYPERVISOR?

Xen is a hypervisor that allows multiple virtual machines to be built and run on a single physical computer simultaneously.

Xen Source originally developed Xen, but was later acquired by Citrix Systems in 2007. In 2003, Xen was released for the first time. It is a hypervisor open source. It is also available in an Enterprise version.

So, Xen is primarily a Type-1, Bare Metal hypervisor that can be mounted directly without the need of a host operating system on computer hardware.

WHAT DOES A XEN HYPERVISOR DO?

  • Due to being a type-1 hypervisor, Xen controls hardware, peripheral and I/O assets directly, and tracks and manages the resources directly. In order to make any resource available, guest virtual machines ask Xen to download virtual hardware drivers.
  • Xen is supportive of multiple instances of the same or specific operating systems that have native support for most of the operating systems, that also includes Windows and Linux.
  • In addition to that, Xen can also be used on the computer platforms IA-32, x86, and ARM processor architecture.

CONCLUSION

Our verdict? Both of them are perfect for the purposes they are built for. They have made virtual management very easy, and both are facilitating use of a physical server that has a power of multiple virtual machines.
